Kules Family

In honor of Kules's father, CPT Ryan Kules, U.S. Army

Meet the Kules family! Nancy and Ryan Kules are the proud parents of NGS Recipients Jillian (9th grade), Liv (6th grade), and Evan (4rd grade), along with Ryan’s service dog Griff (who’s not in a “grade” but they say is a straight-A student!) ;)

Army Captain Ryan Kules was injured on November 29, 2005, near Camp Taji, Iraq. The IED attack resulted in a variety of catastrophic injuries including the loss of his right arm and left leg. Ryan received countless surgeries in 2005 and 2006 and spent over 18 months in daily physical therapy at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Ryan is proud to have spent his years post injury working full time advocating for other post-9/11 Veterans who have been injured in mind, body, or spirit. Nancy serves as a volunteer for her local school board, as well as a non-profit focused on meeting the needs of our more than 5.5 million veteran caregivers across the nation.

In 2005, Ryan sacrificed greatly for our nation, and both Kules have spent each day since doing what they can to better the lives of service members and caregivers in situations similar to theirs. NGS is proud to be part of the legacy the Kules family is building!
