NGS Scholar
Ryann Allen
In honor of Ryann's father, SSG Charles “Chaz” Allen, U.S. Army
Ryann Allen is seeking a Bachelor of Arts in Foreign Language with a German Concentration at Tennessee Tech University. Ryann aims to become a freelance translator or translator for government officials. She is also a member of Tennessee Tech's dance team, which allows her to build upon her passion for dance.
Ryann was six years old when her father, Army SSG Charles "Chaz" Allen, stepped on a 40-pound improvised explosive device (IED) while on dismounted patrol in Afghanistan. He instantly lost both legs, along with sustaining other injuries. The Allen family spent the next two years at Walter Reed Army Medical Center.
Ryann appreciates how much the NGS program alleviates the financial stress of attending college and the benefits of exposure to opportunities and people. With the support of the NGS program, Ryann is pursuing her dreams at Tennessee Tech.
The Allen Family says "The NGS scholarship truly lightens the load on our family and we are so appreciative!"

NGS would like to thank Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund and UBS 1285 for their amazing support in making Ryann’s dreams come true.
