2025 Veterans Day Message: Honoring Service by Investing in the Next Generation
This Veterans Day, NGS honors all who served and the 35,000 children who, since 9/11, will need support to finish college—through the Masson family's story.

This Veterans Day, No Greater Sacrifice (NGS) honors the men and women who have served—and the families who have served alongside them. Since 9/11, more than 130,000 children have been impacted by combat fatalities, training accidents, and service-connected wounds. Of these, 35,000 will require targeted support to access, afford, and complete higher education in the years ahead.
In our Freedom’s Future Impact & Donor Report, NGS became the first veteran-support organization to quantify this long-term education burden and define a strategy to meet it. Your support ensures these children can pursue the opportunities they deserve.
The Masson Family: A Testament to Service and Strength
This month, we highlight the Masson family—a powerful reminder of the courage and sacrifices of our Service members and their families, and the impact our donors make on the lives of their children.
Army Master Sergeant John Masson served in both Operation Desert Storm and the post-9/11 Special Forces community. In 2010, he was severely wounded in Afghanistan, beginning a long recovery that reshaped his family’s future. During that difficult period, NGS awarded future-use scholarships to all three of John and Dustina’s children—Jonathan, Morgan, and Ethan—ensuring they would not face the burden of educational costs alone.
Today:
Jonathan is an Apache helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army, following his graduation from Purdue University.
Morgan earned her degree from UNC Charlotte and now works as a Research Specialist supporting trauma-informed care for Service members and families.
Ethan will graduate this December with a degree in Criminal Justice and plans to pursue federal service focused on combating human trafficking.
Their reflections capture the heart of the NGS mission: “They’ve taken care of my family… it lifts a weight off our shoulders,” Morgan shares. Jonathan adds, “Donations made to No Greater Sacrifice are a blessing… It’s like a great night’s sleep, times eternity.”
Join the Freedom’s Future Campaign
This Veterans Day, we invite you to honor our Nation’s Heroes by supporting their children. Monthly giving—at any level—directly fuels scholarships, mentorship, and long-term support for families like the Massons.
