Back to School

As a new semester begins on campuses, NGS Scholars are embarking on their journeys both across the country and abroad. This fall, we are proud to stand alongside 255 college-aged Scholars as they pursue their education at 164+ colleges - see the listing below. You can follow their back-to-school journeys on our social media - Instagram and Facebook.
This past May, the NGS Board selected 76 new scholarship Recipients, committing an additional $3.9+ million towards the NGS mission this selection cycle.
Thank you to our donors, partners, and supporters in this back-to-school season. We are especially grateful to Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund, Gary Sinise Foundation, and Virginia B. Toulmin Foundation for their committed educational investment in our Scholars as they return to school.
Scholar Spotlight: A Texas A&M Tradition

As students across the nation prepare for a new academic year, three NGS Scholars are heading to Texas A&M University for their freshman year. Noah Voltin, Kaylen Dorsett, and Aracely Tejada represent the remarkable resilience of military children.
Noah and Aracely are both joining the Corps of Cadets, continuing a legacy of service that mirrors their fathers' commitments to our nation. Their fathers - Capt Ryan Voltin, USMC (Ret.) and GySgt Guillermo Tejada, USMC (Ret.) - both suffered catastrophic injuries. Ryan endured severe burns and a leg amputation while piloting a Cobra helicopter, and Guillermo lost both legs in an IED blast in Afghanistan. Kaylen's father, Sgt Martin Gonzalez, USMC (Ret.), died from wounds sustained in Iraq.
These three Scholars embody the courage and strength their fathers demonstrated - qualities that will define their college years and the futures they build. As they enter their college years, Noah, Kaylen, and Aracely carry forward the values of service, leadership, and perseverance that are woven into their families' stories.
NGS is honored to support these outstanding young leaders as they pursue their educational dreams and write the next chapter of their families' legacies.
Thank you Rudy's BBQ for your support, especially of our Texas Scholars!
Giving Opportunity: Help Us Support More Scholars

This year, our Board was able to select 20% of qualified applicants. We know there are many more who deserve this life-changing opportunity of NGS support.
Your generosity can make this possible. As we look ahead to the last half of 2026, we invite you to make an even greater impact by helping us say "yes" to more Scholars waiting. Help us honor their Service members' sacrifices by investing in their children's education and future.
