Intelligence and National Security | Minor in Criminology
Kaitlyn Morgan is a sophomore at Coastal Carolina University. She is majoring in Intelligence and National Security with a Minor in Criminology. Upon graduation, she is interested in working for The Department of Homeland Security.
During her high school years, Kaitlyn was an active participant in both school and community events. Volunteering over 300 hours of service, she was an active supporter of veteran’s events, Habitat for Humanity, FACES food pantry, Operation Christmas Child, her church and mentoring youth at her local 4H camp. Kaitlyn was a member of the student government serving as treasurer and secretary and was inducted into the National Spanish, Theater, History, Science, and English Honor Societies. She served as a delegate for the Virginia Model General Assembly.
While COVID halted activities during her freshman year at Coastal Carolina University, Kaitlyn participated virtually in various clubs including the Chanticleer Intelligence Brief (CIB), and Women in Intelligence and National Security (WINS), which seeks to enhance diversity and inclusion in the intelligence field by empowering its members. She achieved Dean’s List during both semesters. She looks forward to becoming more active in community activities as Covid restrictions allow this year.
Kaitlyn was only 5 months old when her father deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. During this deployment, her father was wounded and medically evacuated to Walter Reed Army Medical Center through Landstuhl Army Medical Center. He has struggled with PTSD, a TBI, and other medical issues since that time. Having grown up in a household with dual military parents, Kaitlyn has a deep appreciation for the sacrifices faced by military families and looks forward to serving her country through her chosen career path.
“I’m incredibly honored to not only be a recipient of the NGS scholarship, but also to be a part of this community that gives back so much to our veterans. I want to say thank you to all of the donors who support my pursuit of higher education and have made my scholarship possible!”
NGS would like to thank The Palmetto Classic and BMW Government Affairs for their support in making Kaitlyn’s dreams come true.
