Abilene Christian University

Ashley Burns graduated with a Bachelor of the Arts in Worship Ministry from Abilene Christian University in May 2021. She will be going full time with her church, using her degree to work in worship ministry and administrative roles, and is excited to continue focusing on her development as a worship leader.

During college, Ashley served as Vice President of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society, volunteered, and held various jobs that have enabled her to learn excellent communication and customer service skills, including caring for children in her church’s nursery department, multiple years in a receptionist role, and as the stage manager at Abilene Christian University. She has been an intern in her church’s worship ministry for nearly a year and was offered a part-time position that turned into a full-time role once she graduated.

In addition to the vast volunteer experience with her church, Ashley has given her time to support military non-profits, specifically Bucking for Heroes and Operation Pay It Forward’s annual fundraising banquet.

Ashley’s father, Army Staff Sergeant Michael Burns, was injured in Iraq in 2003 when an enemy rocket exploded nearby and sent shrapnel into his body that ultimately resulted in an above-the-knee left leg amputation. He is on the Board of Directors for Operation Pay It Forward whose mission is to recreate camaraderie for veterans and their families through outdoor activities such as fishing trips, hiking, and hunting.

NGS would like to thank our amazing partner, the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund, for their support in making Ashley’s dreams come true.

These are just a few of the colleges and universities our recipients have attended.
