NGS Scholar · Class of 2021
Sanaa Lucas
In honor of Sanaa's mother, SPC Latoya Lucas, U.S. Army
Sanaa Lucas graduated from Clemson University in 2021 with a double major in Political Science and Music, and now works as a government affairs manager for a lobbying firm in Washington, D.C.
An accomplished violist, she was a member of the Clemson University Quartet and won the Omega Psi Phi Talent Hunt performing viola.
Both of Sanaa's parents served. Her mother, Army Specialist Latoya Lucas of the 101st Airborne Division, was serving in Mosul, Iraq when her vehicle was ambushed by a rocket-propelled grenade and small-arms fire, leaving her with life-threatening wounds.
I would do it all over again without hesitation.
The NGS scholarship is more than just a scholarship to me. The program itself keeps patriotism alive and that’s very important to me considering how much my mother has sacrificed through mind, body and spirit. I want to thank all of the donors who made my scholarship possible!
