NGS Scholar
Connor Briest
In honor of Connor's father, SGT Corey Briest, U.S. Army National Guard
Connor Briest attended Mitchell Technical College for a degree in Power Line Construction and Maintenance, and now works as an iron worker for Hirsch Steel in Vermillion, South Dakota.
His father, SGT Corey Briest, was severely injured by a roadside bomb while serving in Iraq in 2005. Living with a severe traumatic brain injury and blindness, he requires around-the-clock care.
Inspired by his father's service and sacrifice, Connor joined the same South Dakota National Guard unit.
I am extremely grateful for NGS's commitment to my education and being able to come out of college debt-free. It's not just the financial aspect, but also the mentorship and relationship building that make the NGS scholarship.
