2014 Freedom Award Family Day
Saturday, September 13, 2014

Event details
The 2014 Freedom Award honored Sapient and General James Mattis (USMC, Ret.) during a family friendly event hosted on the lawn of President Lincoln's Cottage. The celebration brought together scholarship Recipients, their families and guests of all ages to recognize those who serve and their families. The day was filled with many activities for all ages including a special viewing of President Lincoln's Cottage and Visitor Center. The NGS Freedom Award is presented annually to individuals who epitomize selfless service to the nation and represent the very best of our men and women in uniform. The recipients of the award embody five core principles: Freedom, Sacrifice, Community, Patriotism and Esteem. The entire weekend our scholarship Recipients and their families spent time forming bonds with other military families and explored some of Washington, D.C.'s sites.
Honored Guests included: General James Mattis, Sergeant Major and Mrs. Carlton Kent (Ret.), Mr. and Mrs. Jeremiah Workman, and the many NGS Recipient families and supporters.
Sponsors: Michael Baker International, IBM, General Dynamics C4 Systems, CGI, Honeywell, President Lincoln's Cottage, Sapient, Adfero Group, E.R. Shaw Inc., and Lost Dog Café.
