NGS Scholar · Class of 2021
Taylor Pokorney
In honor of Taylor's father, 1LT Frederick E. Pokorney, United States Marine Corps
Taylor Pokorney graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of San Francisco in May 2021. She is now pursuing her Master’s of Art in Teaching in order to become a teacher in the future.
She currently works at Trillium Family Services at a Day Treatment Center for children with mental health and learning disabilities. She hopes to take her knowledge of positive mental health advocacy into teaching someday. In the future, she also wants to get her master’s degree in social work.
Taylor’s father, 1st Lieutenant Frederick E. Pokorney, United States Marine Corps, was killed in action in Iraq on March 23, 2003, when Taylor was only two years old. Throughout her life, she has used the Marine Corps values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment to guide her through her studies and life challenges.
NGS would also like to thank the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund in supporting Taylor and helping her reach her dreams.
