No Greater Sacrifice

NGS Scholar · Class of 2018

Jonathan Masson

In honor of Jonathan's father, Master Sergeant John Masson, U.S. Army

Jonathan Masson graduated from Purdue University in May 2018, with a Bachelor of Science in Professional Flight and a Minor in Organizational Leadership. He is now a U.S. Army Apache pilot.

His father, Army Master Sergeant John Masson enlisted in 1989 and deployed as airborne infantry for Operation Desert Storm. In the aftermath of 9/11, Masson was back in Iraq as a special forces medic.

During a mission in Afghanistan, he stepped on an IED, losing both his legs and his left (dominant) arm in the explosion. He was rescued and transferred to Walter Reed National Medical Center, where he spent years recovering from his injuries.

Donations made to No Greater Sacrifice are a blessing to us, the families. They give us hope [by] coming into the picture and RELIEVING us of ANY worry whatsoever. It’s like a great night’s sleep, times eternity.
