Bachelor of Science in Psychology | Minor in Counseling

Lake Superior State Lakers

Emily Merten graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Minor in Counseling from Lake Superior State University. While there she ran track and cross country and volunteered with the United Way of the Eastern Upper Peninsula. She also holds a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certificate. She is hoping to work with the Department of Health and Human Services or another similar organization.

Emily’s father, Army Sergeant (and former Marine) Herbert Merten III was injured during a mortar attack on his unit while serving in Iraq.

Emily says, “My goal was to never need a student loan, and this scholarship helped me meet that goal.”

NGS would like to thank the Johnny Mac Soldiers Fund in supporting Emily and helping her reach her dreams.
